The Adventures of Moco & Roxy

As a way to share a message to a wide audience, this video animation was created along with an original story and characters. While the intended audience is children, and it is meant to read like a type of animated children’s book, it is still very approachable for all viewers. The backgrounds and characters were all digitally drawn, then compiled into scenes with added text and background audio using Adobe After Effects.

This project concept was several years in the making, and an opportunity opened up to put the plan into action. The characters and story were inspired by my family. My husband started it all by telling me one day we were two ferrets in another life, named Moco and Roxy, then my great-grandma shared a wonderful piece of wisdom during one of our talks, sparking the idea for the story:

“Everyone has something nice about them, you know. There’s no reason to be mean to anybody.”

As this was the first project of its kind for me, I think of this finished video as more of a first iteration that can be ever-evolving and improving. I would love to expand on these characters and this world more, whether another video, or perhaps an actual book. I would love to see what else Moco and Roxy have in store.
